Landscape: A Western Australian Perspective

Selected artworks from the private collection of Michael and Caroline Levitt

22 February – 21 March

Ellenbrook Arts had the unique opportunity to present this extraordinary survey of Western Australian landscape paintings that spanned the decades from mid-century to the early 2000’s.

The artists in the collection each contributed to forming our collective sense of identity in this state. Among the collection are many previously hidden gems and unusual works by significant artists whose vision and perspective on our landscape have been instrumental in developing our artistic and aesthetic approach to art making in Perth and WA in the latter half of the twentieth century.

From the private collection of Carolyn and Michael Levitt, and assembled in this way for the first time, this was a highlight of our 2021 annual exhibition program. It was accompanied by a colour catalogue with a brief essay about the history of landscape painting in WA.

We wish to thank Ian Flanagan, Connie Petrillo,  Maria Yakimov, Trish Juniper and Mark Stewart who have helped bring this exhibition to fruition.
