Sister Project:
The Exhibition

01 May - 29 May

2021

Curator

Tracey Cave

Gemma Ben-Ary

The Sister Project is a group of women from migrant and refugee backgrounds from a diverse range of countries, from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Islander countries, who are now all living in Ellenbrook and surrounding suburbs.

The group meets primarily to practice English and support one other, as they are far from the family and friends left behind in their homelands.

“We understand what it means to lose a sense of community, and the joy of being together with loved ones. Here in Australia we have found new friendships, expanded our circle of loved ones through the Sister Project.”

This exhibition is a celebration of the many and varied art and craft skills from this incredibly resilient, resourceful, and skilful group of women.
